On October 20, 2020, PAFCPIC was among an exclusive group of cooperatives given recognition by the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) during this year’s Gawad Parangal at the Cooperative Month online celebration event.
In the awarding ceremony held via Zoom, Vice President for Membership Education and Community Development Maria Teresa Garnace received the award on behalf of PAFCPIC.
PAFCPIC was recognized for its actions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the early stages of the pandemic, PAFCPIC was quick to act by donating medical equipment and supplies to military institutions and hospitals, for which it had received official expressions of appreciation from leaders of the Philippine Army, the Philippine General Hospital, the V. Luna General Hospital, and other institutions.
The Cooperative Development Authority’s Gawad Parangal is an annual search for exemplary cooperatives and cooperative partners.
The awarding body had chosen to take a different approach this year due to the pandemic. Instead of choosing top cooperative winners in usual award categories, CDA decided to recognize cooperatives that had joined in the effort to fight COVID-19.
