Taguig City, Philippines – A contingent from PAFCPIC participated in the annual Heroes Run held at the Philippine Army Grandstand in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, last November 24, 2019. The contingent was led by PAFCPIC Vice President for Operations Lt Gen Oscar P Lopez (Ret). Organized by the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association Inc. (PMAAI) – Philippine Army Chapter and having the theme “Takbo Para sa Kapayapaan,” this year’s run was graced by former Chiefs of Staff AFP – General Alexander Yano AFP (Ret) and General Benjamin Madrigal (AFP) – as well as the current Chief of Staff AFP General Noel S Clement.
The only nationwide charity run in celebration of Bonifacio Day, Heroes Run has simultaneous gun starts in thirteen other Philippine cities besides the one in Metro Manila. It aims to raise funds for the benefit of children or dependent siblings of fallen soldiers through the AFP’s Educational Benefit System Office (AFPEBSO) and Hero Foundation Inc.
LtGen Oscar P Lopez (Ret), together with PAFCPIC Vice President for Operations Ms. Arlene O. Villaflor and 18 other PAFCPIC runners, joined a huge number of participants across major uniformed services such as the Army, the Navy and the Air Force, as well as various civilian institutions.
Also present to promote PAFCPIC products and services were PAFCPIC Satellite Office (PSO) – Fort Bonifacio’s Ms. Floreby Q Alcaraz, Assistant Office Manager, and Ms. May Ann C Quadra, Membership and Marketing Assistant, who provided free drinking water and “taho” to runners.
As the event was nationwide, personnel from other PSOs – namely, PSO-Jamindan, PSO-Fort Magsaysay, PSO-Capas, PSO-Baguio, PSO-Pagadian, PSO-Cebu and PSO-Iloilo – also participated in the run.
Aside from sending runners to participate in the 3K, 5K, 10K and 21K categories, PAFCPIC and its satellite offices also supported this year’s run though cash donations.
