News of inclement weather couldn’t keep job seekers away from the 2018 PAFCPIC Job Fair held last Saturday, 21 July 2018, at the PAFCPIC Main Office along Bayani Road in Taguig City.

On its fourth year, the job fair was held in partnership with the city government of Taguig and the local Public Employment Service Office (PESO-Taguig). The event counted 365 applicants applying for vacancies among over 50 direct-hire companies and staffing organizations.

The job fair, one of the community development initiatives of PAFCPIC, was strongly supported with the presence of key PAFCPIC management officers and of employees who acted as event volunteers.

PAFCPIC President BGen Fernando S Zabat (Ret) opened the morning program by encouraging the job seekers to be diligent in their search.

“Job fairs serve as a transition ground for students nearing the completion of their studies, fresh graduates and even those who are in-between jobs, linking job seekers with prospective employers,” he explained. “You must explore all the opportunities before you; do not take anything for granted.”

Much appreciation was also expressed for the participating organizations. Mr Norman M Mirabel, PESO-Taguig Manager, addressed the employing companies as partners and lauded them for helping job seekers find decent jobs suited to their skills, knowledge and abilities. He expressed confidence that these initiatives enable job seekers to secure opportunities for better living conditions and brighter futures while also lowering the unemployment rate in the city.

The morning program concluded with Ms Maria Teresa Z Garnace, PAFCPIC’s Vice President for Membership Affairs and Community Services, formally opening the job fair.

“I believe in you and in your dreams,” declared Ms. Garnace as she addressed the attending job seekers.

The job fair was a whole-day affair that featured applicants running out of copies of their resumes because there were so many companies present with whom to file job applications. The photocopiers on site were kept busy.

The turn-out this year was 80% higher than last year’s, and most of the applicants were able to secure interviews scheduled for the following week.
