Taguig City, Philippines - October 25, 2019 - The Taguig city government once again acknowledged PAFCPIC for being one of the largest cooperatives in the country during its culminating activity for the Cooperative Month. The theme of the activity was “COOPERATIVISM: A Countervailing Force against Climate Change and Violent Extremism through People Empowerment to Trailblaze Shifts in Paradigm towards Sustainability and Social Inclusion.” It was held at Kalayaan Hall, SM Aura, Taguig City.

Receiving the award for PAFCPIC was its Vice President for Membership Education and Community Services, Ms. Maria Teresa Zaide Garnace.

“During the last few years,” Ms Garnace recounted during the acceptance speech, “we decided to shift towards a new direction. PAFCPIC does not want to be number one only in terms of membership or assets. We have decided to place more importance on the four L’s of society which are the Low, the Lost, the Last and the Least, especially the IPs.”

Also present for PAFCPIC during the event were Ms. Alma Ochoco and Ms. Editha Marfori from the PAFCPIC Membership Education and Community Services Division.

The event was fully supported by the Cooperative Development Authority. It was Mr Luis U Andrada, Officer-In-Charge, Cooperative Development Office who welcomed the attendees with a short message at the beginning of the event.

During the event, Ms. Anastacia Hora, Assistant Director of the Cooperative Development Authority - Manila Extension Office, also took the time to clarify recent amendments to Republic Act 11364, which included modifications to the composition of the CDA Board of Administrators to strengthen the partnership between the CDA and cooperatives.

PAFCPIC has received this award from the Taguig city government multiple times in the past, and the cooperative continues to strengthen both its asset management capabilities and its community development programs.
